Larry Compa

Biography

Larry Compa comes to enSpirit, llc. with 16 years of experience in the field of Behavioral Health, where he worked as an Addiction Therapist and Supervisor, specializing in men's issues and recovery focused process oriented therapy. He was an early proponent of client centered therapy and motivational interviewing and helped develop a number of special programs to meet the unique needs of his clients. He also planned and led recovery focused wilderness retreats in the Adirondack Mountains for recovering individuals and their families, with a focus on mindfulness meditation and spiritual renewal in nature.

In addition to his work at Behavioral Health, Larry has a proven track record as a contract copy and speechwriter for Xerox Corporation, where he helped develop and produce Total Quality Management materials for worldwide distribution to Xerox employees and customers. He also wrote, directed and produced videos and print advertising for new product roll-outs and related corporate products and services, and wrote speeches for high level Xerox managers. He has worked as a copywriter for clients including Shimano Fishing Tackle, Rochester Community Savings Bank, Gore-Tex Corporation, Square One Golf, and the Rochester Historical Society. In 1988 he won an Addy Award for best print ad of the year with an ad for Gore-Tex entitled "Welcome To Boot Camp".

He attended 2 years of Business School at Fordham University before dropping out to become a folk-singer in the late sixties, which he actually remembers, and continues to write and perform regularly in the Rochester area with his band Blue Mountain. He is a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) and a Certified Acupuncture Detox Therapist (ADT). He has been a co-worker with three of the team members at enSpirit, llc. and is honored and excited to be joining them in their mission to inspire and create for individuals and organizations motivated for change and growth.
